About Andrea Nelson-Novak (Co-Director)
Andrea is credentialed as an N.D.C.A. professional who teaches and trains in all aspects of ballroom and latin dancing. She holds professional titles as 2005 Professional Rising Star Standard Champion-Colorado Star Ball and 2005 Professional Rising Star Latin Champions-Hawaii Star Ball. Andrea also possesses a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry which aids in the understanding of the body as a whole, diverse organism and its subsequent relationship to movement and dance.
Andrea has been dancing for over 20 years in various fields of dance. She started her career in Sacramento under the tutelage of La Verne Krei and her ballet and jazz/tap dance companies. Later companies include JazZ Dance Co. and the Broadway Academy of Performing Arts.
Andrea has performed in many shows which include: Sweet Charity, 42nd Street, Sophisticated Ladies, Guys and Dolls and most notably as "Cha Cha" in Grease and as the Tango dancers with her husband and partner Mark in Evita.
Her ballroom/latin experience has spanned 15 years. During that time she has been seen in the television show Nash Bridges, the independent film "Heaven" and Bay Area cruises.
A ballroom/latin competitor since 1996, she has added numerous awards to her list of merits.
